Constantine Storyline

The story of irreverent supernatural detective John Constantine, who has literally been to Hell and back. When Constantine teams up with skeptical policewoman Angela Dodson to solve the mysterious suicide of her twin sister, their investigation takes them through the world of demons and angels that exists just beneath the landscape of contemporary Los Angeles. Caught in a catastrophic series of otherworldly events, the two become inextricably involved and seek to find their own peace at whatever cost.

Constantine trivia

A character named Ellie, who was a demon Constantine dealt with early on, was almost completely cut from the film. Director 'Francis Lawrence (II)' (qv) stated that she was left on the cutting room floor because he wanted Constantine to be completely alone when he meets Angela. Ellie was played by 'Michelle Monaghan' (qv). Her scenes can be seen in the deleted scenes section of the DVD. In the theatrical cut, she can be seen briefly in the hospital scene; when Constantine sets off the sprinkler system, she's the one who exclaims, "Holy Water!"
'Domino Harvey' (qv), the late bounty hunter, makes a cameo as Papa Midnight's Bar. She is seated at a table as an angel, with a demon nibbling her ear. Harvey died in June 2005, just months before the film Domino was released, which was about her life and starred 'Kiera Knightley'.
CAMEO('R.A. Rondell' (qv)): (the stunt coordinator) as Man in Land Cruiser.
'Keanu Reeves' (qv) bought the Holy Shotgun prop and gave it to director 'Francis Lawrence (II)' (qv) as a gift.
Originally, 'Tarsem Singh' (qv) was attached to direct with 'Nicolas Cage' (qv) to star. However, the director said that "With Cage, I can not make the film I had wanted to". Soon after Singh left the picture, Cage did as well.

Constantine goofs

CONT: When Father Hennessy is dead and lying there, one leg is up. In the next shot, his leg is down, then back up again in the next shot.
CREW: A crew member is reflected in the water when Constantine drowns Angela in the bath tub.
FAKE: In the beginning where Constantine is exorcising the little girl, the mirror gets pulled out of the window. The line used to pull the mirror out can be seen clearly attached to it but, in the next overhead shot when it is falling toward the car, the line is clearly no longer attached.
SYNC: The kettle shown in the opening scene whistles as it boils, increasing in volume and pitch until the gas underneath it is turned off. However the kettle has a normal spout - not a whistle - and should not be whistling at all.
FACT: The priest tells Angela that suicide is a mortal sin and therefore she cannot have a Catholic funeral. While the church does still consider it a sin, it is not done so in case of mental illness, which in modern times is every time, and in that case since she was in a mental institution is a moot point. People who commit suicide are no longer refused a Catholic funeral.
