If you look closely at the crowd after a goal is scored in the third period, a large yellow sign held by a resident of Mystery, Alaska can be seen. It reads "Hey Skank, I'm Pregnant!"
'Mike Myers (I)' (qv)'s character Donnie Shulzhoffer seems to have the same mannerisms and sayings as Canadian hockey commentator, hero and all-around legend 'Don Cherry (II)' (qv).
This movie was originally going to be filmed in Rossland, British Columbia - the future location of _Miracle (2004)_ (qv) - and was going to be known as "Face Off." Eventually they decided to use Canmore, Alberta, and went with the current name.
The metal "goaltender" that John ('Russell Crowe (I)') uses for shooting practice is painted to look like former Montreal Canadiens goalie and NHL Hall Of Famer, 'Ken Dryden' (qv).
The entire New York Rangers roster is fictional. Many players on the actual Rangers roster at the time refused to be in the film.
