Disturbia Storyline

After his father's death, Kale Brecht (LaBeouf) becomes sullen, withdrawn, and troubled — so much so that he finds himself under a court-ordered sentence of house arrest after a run in with the law. His mother, Julie (Moss), works night and day to support herself and her son, only to be met with indifference and lethargy. The walls of his house begin to close in on Kale. He becomes a voyeur as his interests turn outside the windows of his suburban home towards those of his neighbors, one of which Kale begins to suspect is a serial killer. But, are his suspicions merely the product of cabin fever and his overactive imagination?

Disturbia trivia

Ronnie's line "My dad likes this song, by the way", referring to "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" by 'Lou Rawls' (qv), was added in post-production.
To prepare for his role, 'Shia LaBeouf' (qv) spoke with many former house arrest detainees, which is where the idea for the Twinkie Tower came from.
During filming, 'David Morse (I)' (qv) (Mr. Turner) did not speak to 'Shia LaBeouf' (qv) (Kale) or any of the other teens. LaBeouf said, "When we finished filming, he was very friendly. But he's a method actor, and as long as we were shooting, he wouldn't say a word to us."
The script was written in the 1990's and was optioned. The original studio let the option expire after hearing about 'Christopher Reeve' (qv)'s remake of _Rear Window (1954)_ (qv) (_Rear Window (1998) (TV)_ (qv)). It wasn't till 2004 that script was rewritten and sold.
While 'David Morse (I)' (qv) (Mr. Turner) was filming a scene with 'Shia LaBeouf' (qv) (Kale), he slammed his hand into a wall, breaking three fingers. LaBeouf said, "You could see that they were broken. They were all mangled. But he didn't say a word about it. Everybody's asking him what they can do to help, and he just says, 'I'm okay. I'm okay. Let's go again.' It was intimidating, to say the least."
