Surviving Christmas Storyline

Drew Latham is an executive leading an empty, shallow life with only wealth on his side. Facing another lonely Christmas ahead, Drew wants to revisit his old childhood home and possibly relive some old holiday memories. But when he arrives, he finds that the house he was raised in is no longer the home he grew up in. Inhabited by another family, Drew offers a nice financial reward that has the family ringing. But is Drew's generous cash offer only the beginning of an annoying visitor whose a little too overeager to celebrate Christmas?

Surviving Christmas trivia

The production was shot without a completed script. As a result, there were many delays and arguments over what to shoot. Actor 'James Gandolfini' (qv) admitted in behind the scenes interview that most of the film was "improvised".
Filming did not take place in Arlington Heights, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago) because the weather was too cold.
The original Christmas 2003 release date was pushed back ten months, to avoid competing with another 'Ben Affleck' (qv) film, _Paycheck (2003)_ (qv). Because of this, there's a 2003 calendar hanging in Brian's bedroom, near the door.
Released to DVD just nine weeks after it opened in theaters.
'Jon Favreau' (qv) was offered a chance to direct, but made _Elf (2003)_ (qv) instead.
